A Struggling Business 6

Wow, it's been over four months since the last one. Well, after G left to improve himself as an artist (he will be sorely missed), I found an artist for this and the next strip, after which a more permanent placement will be made. But we're back and that's what matters. In other news, the publishing of "Bomb Scares," has been pushed to November due to a problem at the publisher's, but I'll still be going to Birmingham on Sunday to meet the head writer all the same.

A Struggling Business 5

Just one thing after another, isn't it? After five years, my loyal laptop finally bit the dust, bought the farm and kicked the bucket. Until further notice, I'm having to use my brother's P.C. (he's a good sport like that) but hopefully I'll be getting a new laptop soon.

In other news, I'm confirmed to be published with Time Bomb Comics in October. Keep an eye out for their E.C.-style horror anthology making its debut at the Birmingham International Comic Show! Woo!

A Struggling Business 4

Holy crow, a storyline's emerging! Never thought we'd get this far!

Okay, so it's a bit late, so I'm thankful we never actually set a schedule for this comic. Thing is, things have been a bit hellish for both G and myself. Due to an incident in the early hours of Tuesday morning, I've been in the hospital and was only just discharged this afternoon. I don't fear hospitals as such, I just find the staff to be annoying and the atmosphere to be extremely boring.

G's had it just as bad. He caught pneumonia and as of this writing is preparing for a follow-up appointment. Here's hoping it all goes well. Due to this, the Cast and About page still haven't been finished. Bare with us.

A Struggling Business 3

So that's what these freaky animals are up to! How cute. Well, with this one, we found a better format for the art. While the first two were drawn as separate panels and tagged together afterwards, G went the more traditional route and drew out the whole comic as you see it here. With the introduction out of the way, you'll be seeing our first proper storyline very shortly. A personal thanks to everyone I begged to spread the word about this, and I hope any readers out there have been patient and will enjoy what's to come.

A Struggling Business 2

EDIT: All right, I had thought this could be pre-set to update at a specific time like the comic but it seems I was mistaken, so this holds no relevence until tomorrow (28TH April).

By the time the third strip is out, everything should become as clear as crystal, I hope. Anyway, this strip is Arnia's visual debut. She is an American Eskimo Dog and was created by sweet Serenity (love you babe!) and as you can probably guess, is something of a punk girl, but at the same time probably more level-headed than our neurotic robin redbreast. The last panel is kind of a shot at my younger brother, as cool as he is, because seriously, I don't think he even has a floor under all those discarded clothes and other odds-and-sods.

A Struggling Business 1

The first Hogarth Pictures strip is finally online. Not much to say about the comic itself, it's just an introduction to Roddy the robin. Why a robin, you ask? It's an animal that is severely underused in the furry fandom and since it happens to be one I like a lot, I saw no harm in grabbing it. Originally the entire cast were going to be avians but once again citing the reasons above, I felt it gave Roddy more of a unique edge.

Many thanks to the brilliant Anonymous G for agreeing to draw this because I can't do artwork for toffee. You're a diamond, mate. A personal critique is that I would like to see this inked rather than just pencilled. G says he liked it this way but there does need to be a higher level of clarity. I will defend the use of water-colours as being Quentin Blake-esque, taking a cue from one of the world's foremost and most distinctive children's illustrators.
